Our LSD purity test kit is a quantitative kit that will tell you how many micrograms of LSD are in a tab of blotter or in one drop of liquid, allowing you to know the dose before you consume. This is an improved purity test kit created by DanceSafe founder, Emanuel Sferios, and Matthew Aragón. It is not the German “QTest” made by Miraculix. Read the instructions below and our FAQs for details.

LSD Purity Test Kit Instructions

SAFETY INFORMATION – READ THIS FIRST!

Gloves and goggles1. The plastic vial contains a modified Hofmann reagent, which contains sulfuric acid and can severely burn the skin and eyes. The glass vial contains methanol, which is toxic and can also irritate the skin and eyes. So put on the nitrile gloves and remove any contact lenses. We recommend wearing safety goggles. Accidents can happen anytime, so safety first!

2. Should any liquids make contact with your skin, rinse the affected area with water for several minutes. If liquid gets in your eyes, immediately rinse with water for several minutes keeping your upper and lower eyelids open.

3. Store the kit away from children, and lock up your pets (especially cats) before performing the test.

4. Perform the test in a well-ventilated area. Although the methanol fumes won’t kill you, you don’t want to inhale too many of them.

5. Do not unscrew the white part of the cap on the plastic vial (just the green part). When the test is over, follow our instructions below for disposing of the liquids.

SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW

1. Store the kit inside the box it came in or otherwise in darkness. Sunlight, even ambient light, will over time degrade the chemicals. If stored in darkness the kit should last at least a year.

2. Use the LSD purity test kit at room temperature. Let it warm up for one hour after taking it out of a refrigerator or freezer.

3. Perform the test during the day or else use a very bright, full spectrum overhead light.

4. Some people see colors differently than the average person. So it’s always best to have a few other people evaluate the result with you. You will need to hold a white piece of paper behind the vial.

5. Read all the instructions at least once through before beginning the test. You need to evaluate the result between fifteen and twenty minutes after color development begins, and you don’t want to be frantically reading the instructions during the development time.

6. Unfortunately the kit will not work with gel tabs.

STEP 1 – PUT THE LSD IN THE METHANOL

• Put a half a tab of blotter in the small vial with the black cap. Cutting the square diagonally makes it easier to cut evenly.

• If you’re testing liquid, add one drop. Be sure to shake your LSD bottle first! LSD tends to settle at the bottom when dissolved in liquid, so shake the bottle before dispensing out the drop.

put half a hit of blotter in the vial

Just drop it in there.

STEP 2 – SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE THE VIAL

• Put the cap back on and shake the vial for 30 seconds. Then let it sit for fifteen minutes, shaking it two more times during the process. You can actually shake it the entire time if you want, but your arm might get tired. The point is to help the methanol do its job extracting the LSD. Three shakes of 30 seconds each while resting five minutes in between is enough even for the thickest blotter.

• If you’re testing liquid, just shake it for a few seconds. You’re ready for the next step.

Blotter stuck at the top of the vial.

Oops! Make sure the blotter isn’t stuck to the top or side of the vial when letting it rest.

STEP 3 – SQUIRT THE HOFMANN REAGENT INTO THE GLASS VIAL

• Unscrew the green cap on the plastic vial, making sure the white part stays put. Then insert the tip all the way into the neck of the glass vial and squirt out the entire contents.

Don't do it like this

Don’t squirt at this point!

Do it like this

Squirt only after tip is fully inserted.

• Put the cap back on the glass vial and shake it for a few seconds. You should see the liquid start to turn a lavender color fairly soon.

• Set a timer and wait fifteen minutes for the color to fully develop.

TIP! – To get all the Hofmann reagent into the glass vial, you might need to release pressure and squeeze it again a few more times. Squirt, squirt, squirt.

STEP 4 – EVALUATE THE RESULT

1. Wait a full fifteen minutes before comparing the color of the liquid to the color chart, but don’t wait much longer than fifteen minutes. The color will keep on darkening over time. The window between 15 and 20 minutes will give an accurate result.

2. In daylight or under a very bright full spectrum light, hold the reaction vial next to the color chart. You should also hold a white piece of paper about six to eight inches behind the vial. (Yes, we realize this requires three hands. So have someone help you.)

3. Compare the color of the liquid in the vial to the color chart. The color bars on the chart correspond to the amount of LSD in the vial.

Evaluate the result using the color chart

4. If the liquid does not turn lavender or blue at all, there is no appreciable amount of LSD in the vial.

IMPORTANT! – In order to visually evaluate the result, the amount of LSD in the vial needs to be below 100 micrograms. Between 25 and 75 mcg is best. Everything above 100 will appear a very similar dark blue color. Since most blotter is well below 200 mcgs, testing half a tab will probably land you in the right zone to get a good reading. However, if you have super strong blotter and half a tab results in a dark blue color, you should do another test with a quarter tab.
What about liquid LSD?
Liquid LSD can often be quite strong, especially if the water or alcohol has evaporated over time, which happens a lot. It is not unheard of for liquid LSD vials to be 250 mcg per drop or higher. If you suspect your LSD liquid is very strong, you should dilute it prior to testing. More dilute LSD liquid is always safer anyway. Even if you end up diluting it more than you want, you can always take 2 or 3 drops to get the desired effect. But you can never go the other direction. The point, in any case, is to know the dose you’re taking, and in order to use the kit you need one drop to be less than 100 mcgs. So don’t fear! Go ahead and dilute your LSD. Use distilled water or vodka. (Never use tap water. The chlorine or chloramine in municipal water systems will degrade the LSD.)
If for some reason you don’t want to dilute your entire vial, you can still dilute some of it in order to perform the test. Here’s how to do that:
Add five drops of your liquid LSD into another dropper vial. Then add five drops of distilled water or vodka. You now have a 50% dilution of your original LSD liquid. To make a 1/3rd dilution, add three drops of the original LSD and six drops of water or vodka. You can now use this new dilution for the test, and then simply multiply the result to get the potency of your original LSD liquid. (Remember to always shake your bottle before dispensing the LSD.)

STEP 5 – DISPOSING OF THE LIQUIDS

This is an important step. We’re going to explain how to safely and legally dispose of the chemicals. It’s not difficult, so please follow the instructions.

1. DO NOT simply pour the liquid down the drain. You need to dilute the methanol/Hofmann liquid in water first as described below. Alternatively, you can store the vial in an empty, dry, plastic container (like a water bottle, yogurt container or milk jug) and take it to your local hazardous waste disposal site. Just make sure the plastic container you store it in is dry, and the lid to the glass vial is screwed on tightly.

2. To safely dilute the liquid, fill a bucket or large container with a gallon of water and go outside.

Gloves and goggles3. Once outside, put on nitrile gloves and safety goggles.

4. Remove the cap from the vial and slowly pour the liquid into the water, holding the vial a few inches from the surface of the water. If you pour it from too high above, the acid can splash up and hit you.

5. Once you have poured out all the liquid, put the cap back on the vial and throw it in the trash.

6. Now you can pour the water down the drain safely. Do not pour it on the ground.

NOTE – Once the acid is dilute, it is perfectly safe (and legal) to pour it down the drain. Many household products contain sulfuric acid, including drain cleaners and laundry detergent.

STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE

Store the kit inside the box it came in or otherwise in total darkness. Sunlight, even ambient light, will over time degrade the chemicals. If stored in darkness the kit should last at least a year. Always store it out of reach of children.

DISCLAIMERS

1. The kit can only tell you the amount of LSD in your sample. The sample may still be adulterated with one or more other substances.
2. The result does not mean your sample is safe to consume. No drug use is 100% safe.
